Dancing with the Stars casualty Josh Kronfeld has come out firing, calling controversial Breakfast presenter Paul Henry a "dickhead" during a live television interview.

The former All Black said he was disappointed by Henry’s regular ridiculing of his performances - and dance partner Rachel Burstein's costumes - on the high-rating TV One morning news show.

During today's interview with the pair, Henry said to Kronfeld: "Some comments have been made about Rachel's outfits. You obviously got very close to those outfits, and some of them were stunning. Was it hard to keep your mind on the moves?"

Shaking his head, Kronfeld replied: "I've gotta be honest, sometimes you're a dickhead. Who cares about her costumes? She looks stunning. In the dancing world everybody's dressed in the same sort of stuff."

Later he said: "You’ve been going on about it for a while now and I’ve been shocked to be honest."

Henry laughed and suggested Kronfeld's comments could be used as "promos" for the show.

Requests for comment by Henry were not immediately answered.

Talking to Stuff.co.nz afterwards, Kronfeld said he did not regret his outburst.

"Well, the guy was being a dickhead. I thought he was being disrespectful to me. It was just a cheap shot, and cheapened what dancing means to Rachel.

“Don’t get me wrong - I think he’s great when he is interviewing politicians, but sometimes he can be a moron. And in no uncertain terms I told him that."

Kronfeld said he had enjoyed his time on the show, although the costumes had tested his boundaries.

"I don’t think you ever get used to them, but it's all part of the package. I must admit that sometimes, when I saw what I was going to have to wear, I’d think, 'God, what are you doing to me?'"

Kronfeld said he thought his performance last night had been mixed. He earned 24 points for his cha cha, and 31 for the tango.

Good scores from judge Craig Revel Horwood had continued to elude him, he said.

"I think he must have secret feelings for me or something and his only response is to be horrible to me."

Kronfeld said next on his agenda was finding a job.

“I suppose I can’t live off dancing forever."

Can I keep this going? I agree with Josh, Paul Henry is a dickhead and the only qualification he needs for his role...is his big 'gob'! To be frank he is not fit to even question (if you can call it that, because he doesn't even give his guests a chance to answer...bullying I call it)the calibre of the people he interviews. His opinions are of no interest to me, in fact they usually have the rverse effect. He has no integrity, no empathy, no sympathy either, so swap him. then maybe I will watch Breakfast. The plus is Alison Mau is on, and not the other blonde bimbo! She is clever, articulate and she must cringe and having to be his side kick. Why not get Simon Dallow on beside her...another Richard and Judy...New Zealanders will love that!

I enjoy Paul Henry on the morning breakfast show he is a cracker Alison is gorgeous like her hubby and I'm a rugby nut who thinks Josh should stop been serious, his dancing improved heaps and good on him but he is not winning material.

Paul Henry is my favorite but least favorite news presenter at the same time. Can give but perhaps not take?

I've got a sense of humour, just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mena they need to get a life, how arrogant to think everyone should think and be like you ... goodness me, I just discribed Paul Henry. I watched him on Intrepid Jouneys when he was offered a cup of tee by that old fellow, apparently it was not to the great Mr. Henry's taste and he made sure that was very obvious. He did this in that man's home, how rude is that, good manners cost little. I watch TV3 Breakfast, I'll consider TV1 when and if Henry moves on, and every time he fills in for Mark Sanesbury I switch to Campbell Live. It's pointless calling him a dickhead or getting into a slanging match, just grab the remote and watch something else!

Paul Henry brightens my day. The people that complain about him need to get a life and stop taking life so seriously. We all need to be able to laugh at ourselves. The Breakfast show is more than just a News programme. We see enough serious news later in the day and maybe that is what these people who hate him should watch!!

Paul Henry is everything that is wrong with the atrocious news and current affairs that the state broadcaster serves up every day in NZ. TV3 is a close second with the almost as cringeworthy Oliver Driver. Were it not for the internet, we would be completely starved of world news in this country. There's also a dearth of indepth reporting about serious issues in NZ. Instead, everything is packaged as ghastly infotainment; where these twerps, these so-called personalities and celebrities are considered more important than actually trying to inform people about what is happening in the country and the world around them. Watching Henry (or Driver) squirm with self-satisfaction as he blithers on about everything he knows nothing about is a deeply unsavoury experience. But he's a symptom of a much larger problem; a dumbed down media staffed by morons that just aren't smart enough to report on or interpret world events, or do any real reportage/investigative journalism. Henry is the successor to Holmes, and if you really believe that what they present has anything to do with news or current affairs, may you be condemned to an eternity watching Paul Holmes trying to straddle Shrek the sheep.

I think Paul Henry is great, a good laugh in the morning and he covers some interesting topics and says what's on his mind. Keep it up I say.

The only dickheads around here are those gullible enough to take the sensationalized title of this article as the truth. Or did I see a different interview? Sure he did call him a DH, but it was all very light hearted & not said with any malice.

I heard Josh was slamming someone else on the show anyway.

Paul henry is a dick head but a funny one and dancing with the stars is all about a persons popularity and not how good they are at dancing

Good work Josh - it needed to be said. Thought you were great at the dancing, kept me interested and watching.

PH - you had it coming! Haha!
