EXCLUSIVE: Survivor victim Tyson Apostol has slammed a tribe mate as "whiney and annoying" after becoming the victim of the biggest blindside in the reality show's latest season.

Apostol, a professional cyclist from Utah, was eliminated from Survivor: Tocantins when his plan to get rid of Sierra Reed backfired and he was blindsided out of the game. There are seven contestants left.

Apostol, who shocked his tribemates by regularly walking around camp naked, told Stuff.co.nz  he was "the biggest threat in the game" and got voted out for being "too awesome".

"Up until the point I got voted out I was pretty much the kingpin of the show," he said.

"I was running things pretty well (and) things were going the way I wanted them to. So I felt like I had things pretty much in the bag. But I guess that's the point that things start slipping from you."

The 29-year-old hacked into Reed - who thought she would be going home instead of Apostol and regularly burst into tears as she pleaded with tribe mates to side with her - saying she needed to spend some time sorting herself out.

"She was whiney and annoying. She had to be validated for everything that she did. She needed attention from everybody on every little thing ... She is just blindly ignorant to how people really view her.

"When I was out there I thought, 'This will be really good for her because she's going to see what she's really like on national TV and she's going to be able to change her life and become a better person and make people around her very happy'."

Addressing his frequent nudity, Apostol said it was his method of coping with the heat and wasn't something he did regularly at home.

"It's 120 degrees out there (so) layering didn't really make sense to me. I just went with the fewest layers possible. You can't help it when you have a smoking hot bod.

"My family was a little bit shocked by that. My girlfriend's family was even more shocked by it."

Benjamin "Coach" Wade - who regularly told the tribe random, possibly made-up stories about his exploits - was the show's most interesting character, Apostol said.

"You look into his face and he is not lying to you. He's telling you (tales) from the depths of his soul and heart. You can't help but believe that at the very least they've got to be somewhat true.

Ad Feedback

"They're so ridiculously awesome, how can one man be this awesome?"

Now that he was gone, Apostol said Stephen Fishbach and James "JT" Thomas were the show's biggest threats.

Survivor: Tocantins screens on TV3 at 7.30pm every Thursday. Stuff.co.nz will interview every contestant as they are eliminated.

Isnt it funny how Tyson thinks the biggest treats are now JT and Stephen... Maybe he knows something...

One of the best episodes since Survivor Fans v Favs....fingers crossed Coach gets the boot next, but I agree with others Tyson and Coach have made the season.

You can control the game from start to finish and still win..just look at Yul and Earl. But you have to do it being diplomatic and skillful, not arrogant and demeaning, as Tyson and Coach were in this season.

One of the classic tribal councils. Almost as good as the look on Tyson's face was the look on Coach's and Sierra's. And I hope Sierra makes Coach beg for her vote next week - before rejecting his begging.

Too cocky so he had to go and good job as well!

It was good to see Tyson go but I can't wait to see the back of Coach. Any man over 25 with a hair cut like his is an idiot.

Coach is all talk about being a warrior etc, you only have to look at his hands to see he has never been in a fight in his life. Well it’s possible he’s been beaten up but he hasn’t hit anyone with any force, the knuckles don’t lie.

I couldn't believe his arrogance. And as for whining - he was the worst of all. Roll out Coach next PLEASE.

Classic blindside! Watching Tyson's face when his name started rolling out...priceless. Also Coach and Debbie looking at each other "dumbfounded" hilirious! How much was Brendon enjoying that from the jury. Should be awesome as from now on. My money is on Stephen, he's the one running this show.

Tyson cracked me up, would of liked to see him round for longer purely for entertainment value. Mean but funny.
