Avenues is offering a unique opportunity for creatives to have a shot at creating a cover for our Anzac Day-themed April edition.

A magazine's front cover is like a shop window. It grabs attention and shows a glimpse of what lies within.

The challenge is to create a cover that captures in a contemporary way the spirit of Anzac Day and commemorations. The competition is open to all, including design students. Here is a chance to let your talent shine.

Our magazine has a long tradition of strong covers, so we'll be looking for a striking image to set Avenues apart on the magazine shelves.

The winning entry will be used as April's cover and we'll also print the best of the other entries in that edition.

Entries must be received by Monday, March 8. Good luck.

Design guidelines:

1. Entries are limited to two per person or organisation. They must be supplied as a high-resolution PDF with trim and bleed marks suitable for high-quality CMYK printing. All pictures *and graphics must be CMYK.

2. Any fonts used must be converted to outlines. Entries can be photographic and/or illustrative. Any graphic used can encroach into the banner area, so long as the Avenues logo is instantly recognisable.

3. For a PDF with all positional elements (banner, image area, trim, bleed, barcode and margin for cover lines, plus Avenues logo as a vector graphic) and further design dimensions email: davidstreeten@xtra.co.nz

4. Entries should not include a barcode, date line/issue number or the cover lines (down the right-hand side) as these vary each month and will be done by the Avenues creative team.

5. Avenues reserves the right to decide how the front cover will be presented.
