Invercargill's lotto millionaire has yet to come forward to claim the winnings.

The $20.5 million winning ticket was sold at Windsor Stationery & Lotto shop and owner Betty Sinclair said the winner had still not come into the store to verify the ticket.

Hopefuls, with tickets in their hand, had lined up outside the shop at 7.30am this morning when the store opened, Mrs said.

''They were wishing and hoping to be lucky but nobody had the winning ticket,'' she said.

The lucky winner was the topic of almost every conversation in the store this morning, she said.

''A lot of people are making guesses who they thought it was but I think a lot of them are wrong, she said.

She said if the winner wanted to keep his or her identity secret, she would happily open the store after hours for them.

New Zealand Lotteries spokeswoman Karen Jones said there had still been no contact with the winner.

''The winner was not knocking our door down this morning,'' Ms Jones said.
