Terms and conditions: Digital Edition subscriptions

These are the terms and conditions that apply to your digital newspaper subscription and relate specifically to digital newspaper subscriptions obtained on the Smedia platform. In these terms and conditions the subscriber is referred to as "you", and Fairfax New Zealand Limited is referred to as "Fairfax", "we" or "us". We reserve the right to change these terms and conditions at any time. By subscribing to have a Fairfax digital edition newspaper delivered to you (which is referred to as "the Digital Edition"), you agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. Payment

By accepting the Digital Edition offer you are authorising Fairfax to debit your credit card with a single payment equivalent to the cost of your digital subscription each month during your subscription period. The authority to debit your account every month will remain valid until you have contacted us to cancel your Digital Edition subscription.

The One-Month Free Trial  code will be applied during the checkout process and will  apply to the first one month subscription period only. Subsequent renewal periods will be charged the then current retail price applicable to the subscription duration. All subscription prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST.

2. One Month Free Trial

No payment will be debited from your credit card for the first one-month subscription period.

Please advise us five working days before the end of your trial if you would like to cancel your subscription. If you cancel your subscription any time before the end of the one-month trial period your credit card will not be charged and you will not be able to access your Digital Edition. You can contact us by emailing digitaleditions@fairfaxmedia.co.nz.

3. Renewing your subscription

Your subscription to the Digital Edition will not expire and will renew automatically into the next subscription period. This means we will continue to deliver the Digital Edition and charge you for such deliveries until you notify us to stop delivery.

4. Cancellation

Once your subscription has been confirmed and has commenced, you will receive a copy of  Digital Edition Monday to Saturday except on Good Friday and Christmas Day.

A Digital Subscription entitles you  to access of an exact digital replica of the print newspaper. You can cancel your subscription at any point by sending an email to digitaleditions@fairfaxmedia.co.nz at least five business days prior to the date of your next scheduled payment. If you cancel your subscription and payment, you will not be able to access your Digital Edition after the end of the current subscription period.Pro rata refunds are not available within the monthly payment period.

5. Viewing the Digital Edition

The Digital Edition can be viewed via desktop by logging into your account or tablet device. Tablet device viewing requires the installation of a free app which can be found by searching for the relevant Digital Edition on iTunes or Google Play Store.

Digital Edition is available for view by 6am each morning. Back issues up the 3 months remain available for view throughout the duration of the subscription on desktop only. Back issues of 2 weeks remain available for view throughout the duration of the subscription on tablet devices.

You must have internet access to be able to view the digital edition via desktop and to download editions via the app on a tablet device. Digital editions via the app can be accessed offline once they have been downloaded over an internet connection.

6. Access to your Digital Edition

Waiting periods: Access to your first copy of Digital Edition is usually next day if you register before 2.00pm weekdays.

Registration after 2.00pm weekdays (except Friday) will require a 2 day waiting period (includes the day you register).

Registration after 2.00pm Friday or anytime on weekends will result in access not before the following Tuesday edition.

Registration after 2.00pm on the day before public holidays or on public holidays can also expect at least a 2 day waiting period before access is available.

8. Privacy Policy

We will protect and maintain your privacy in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
