The Hit List

1. Trailer: Skyline: Okay, so it bears a passing resemblance to District 9 with those strange alien ships hovering over cities. And it's directed by the Brothers Strause, which isn't a good sign. But I like the idea that aliens have come to vacuum up all sign of human life. It makes you think ... what if? Hmm, maybe stop thinking for a bit.
2. XXXO - MIA: Trippy new vid similar to The White Stripes' Seven Nation Army that shows off the eclectic singer's kooky wardrobe, flower fetish and a real life unicorn.
3. Memories - Weezer: They put Hurley from Lost on the cover! They put Hurley from Lost on the cover! They put Hurley from Lost on the cover! Does that make them cool again?
4. Trailer: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark: Here's what Guillermo Del Toro has been up to since leaving The Hobbit. Looks like a scarefest.
5. Trailer: The Switch: Calling all Juno fans, here's the movie for you.

Let's make one last mixtape together
So here's some sad news: Tomorrow is the last day The Hit List will exist. You can stop blowing on that vuvezela now. My ear drums hurt. Cheers.
I'm not big on stats unless they relate to my cricket team so I can't tell you how long this blog has been around, or how many postings there have been, or how many comments have been made, or how many times Charlotte Dawson has read it.
But statistics aside, tomorrow's Best Links post will be the last from me. None of it would have been possible without the help of blueberry muffins, Phil Collins, Star Wars Lego and Princess Morine Ogwo. Only long-term readers, if they indeed exist, are going to understand any of that.
There have been heaps of highlights. Heading to Coachella to report live earlier this year was certainly a huge thrill, coordinating guessing games with readers over potential Big Day Out lineups was always fun and some of those caption-this-photo competitions had me spraying muffin crumbs all over my monitor.
Elsewhere, the Best Links of the Week proved to be a popular weekly feature even though I sometimes struggled to find enough to fill it (cheers Flicks.co.nz), while posts wishing for the reformation of Weta and Head Like a Hole both resulted in comments being made by members of the band in the affirmative, and, eventually, comeback shows. Result.

1. The Suburbs - Arcade Fire: You might struggle to track down a copy on CD in New Zealand at the moment, so check out this full album stream of the indie-rockers' third album that's set to make them world famous.
2. Eva Mendes sex tape: Not what you think it is, but you're going to click on that link anways.
3. Borat: As performed by cartoon bunnies in under 30 seconds. Nice.
4. Stranger Danger - Scribe and Suzanne Paul: Scribe teams up with Mrs Natural Glow for this cringeworthy rap battle attack. My ears hurt.
5. Trailer: Outsourced: A new NBC sitcom about a call centre in India. It's not The Office, but give it some time and it could become something special.
Would you buy this DVD?
I mean, just look at it. I realise this is a bit weird for The Hitlist and it probably belongs over in Stuff's awesome pets blog, but lean back, take a good long look, and try not to burst out laughing.
Because it's ridiculous.
If it was called Men Who Resemble Their Pets, and was a satire, perhaps I'd want to check this out. For laughs. Or something.
But it's not. It's completely serious. This is an actual DVD, that has actually been released. An ad for it turned up in my inbox this week, so it's coming soon to a DVD store near you.
Here's the YouTube trailer.

1. Trailer: Tron: Legacy: This is the first of many trailers for upcoming films that screened at Comic Con that you're going to be hit over the head with today. Get ready for your second high-tech cyborg adventure of a lifetime on December 16.
2. Trailer: Thor: It's five minutes long. That's a lot of Thor. And Natalie Portman. And Anthony Hopkins. Actually, this trailer couldn't be any cooler unless it had ninjas. Maybe it does...
3. Trailer: Dexter - Season five: If you haven't yet seen season four, don't watch this as it's full of spoilers. But it's no surprise that Dexter appears to be in a lot of trouble.
4. Superhuman - King Kapisi: King Kaps teams up with Kiwi rockers The Mint Chicks for his brand new single. It's an odd mix with occasional AutoTune, but I like it.
5. Crossfire - Brandan Flowers: Charlize Theron takes on a pack of ninjas in this new clip from The Killers front man. What else do you need to know?
