Meet the hottest women on Earth

Last updated 12:02 26/02/2008

fdsaIt's official: Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman are the hottest women on earth. It has to be - a record-beaking  Stuff.co.nz  readers poll says it's so, and so it must be.

The poll, which ran in Stuff's Entertainment section, asked the age-old question: Who's hotter: Scarlett Johansson or Natalie Portman? I came up with that piece of brilliance. Hey, it's what I'm paid to do.

Unfortunately, I have a sneaking suspicion that this poll was rigged. I can't prove it, but I'm working on it. And when I find out who it was, I'm going to hunt you down, trap you like a dog and do things that Hannibal Lecter only dreamed of.

At first, voting was pretty normal. I put the poll up in the morning, and by the end of the day Natalie Portman was winning by about 60 per cent to 40 per cent - a result I agreed with. About 4000 votes had been cast. That's pretty good for an entertainment poll, and I went home satisfied in the knowledge the correct result had been achieved.

So you can understand why I had one eyebrow raised when Scarlett had overtaken my Natalie by the following morning, and around 20,000 votes had been cast - almost certainly the biggest poll result Stuff.co.nz has ever seen.

Now, a week after the poll was posted, more than 25,000 votes have been cast, and Natalie has won by a single vote. I'd like to think it was my vote that separated the pair. At least the right girl won in the end.

I'm not sure how, but it's possible some rabid internet geeks found a way past our massive security system, hacked their way in and manipulated the results. We're working on finding if and how this happened, but in the meantime, here are the Final Results:

Scarlett Johansson: 12,536

Natalie Portman: 12,537

Do you agree with the result?

Natalie is very fine indeed, but Scarlett wins my poll every time.

I think that is a fair and accurate result. (And no, I had nothing to do with the vote-rigging, if vote-rigging there was.)

Looking forward to The Other Boleyn Girl

I definitely agree. They are both stunning women and both deserve to be up there.

Im guessing Natalie is on the left.. I mean on the right.

I only know Natalie form Star Wars ep1 and Scarlett could be a pornstar for all I know.

In the above picture I'd have to agree. Natalie wins. Wow what a great result.

They are both absolutely gorgeous, and if the extremely close poll results were not the result of hacking, it would seem to be almost divine confirmation of your thesis. Even it was hacked your thesis is most likely correct.

Surely Scarlett wins hands down - the only time I've thought Natalie was a looker was when she was in V for Vendetta when she was bald. Normally bald women do NOTHING for me but she sure did then.

That photo above doesn't make Natalie look good at all.

But really this is all a waste of time as Maggie Gyllenhaal beats both of then easily.

Does anybody think Anna Sophia Robb looks almost exactly like Natalie Portman, even though she's 13? I think. She was in Bridge to Terabithia and in the recent Jumper film. Oh and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as Violet Bulragard.

They are both absolutely gorgeous. But Diane Lane beats them any day.

That really isn't the best angle on Scarlett. Or Natalie. Natalie has a gorgeous face and is a lithe little weasel in vegan shoes. Scarlett, well if you don't know what's special about Scarlett... Anyhow, you can't really see all their best assets there.

Scarlett hands down. Natalie encapsulates the glammie/perfection hawtness very nicely. And Scarlett the imperfect/Charlize Theron look absolutely sublimely.

The latter's more my style...

Eh, that's nothing compared to the voting numbers from Blog Idol :P
