New Zealand's Olympic rowing squad will receive a heroes' welcome when they return to Cambridge.

Many of the team are based in the Waikato town and Waipa Mayor Alan Livingstone said a parade would be held on Friday.

"We will welcome the team home in style. They are huge ambassadors for New Zealand and for sport. We're very proud of all of them and I'm sure everyone will come out to give them a proper welcome home."

Rowers expected to take part include gold medal winners Caroline and Geogina Evers-Swindell and bronze medallists Mahe Drysdale, George Bridgewater and Nathan Twaddle.
