Germany's Hinrich Romeike won a gold medal in the Olympics three-day equestrian individual eventing on Tuesday.

American Gina Miles took the silver and Britain's Kristina Cook bronze.

Romeike had been first after the cross-country event on Monday and Australia's Lucinda Fredericks led after the opening dressage.

At the 2004 Games, Germany's Bettina Hoy was forced to hand back her gold after she was disqualified for crossing the starting line in a warm-up lap before the show jumping.
