RESUCE: A forestry worker was winched to safety by the Auckland Rescue Helicopter.

A man was seriously injured yesterday afternoon after being hit by a spinning log that was being transported up a bank by cable.

The logging accident happened 350 metres down a muddy and dangerous forestry bank.

Because of this the man, in his twenties, had to be winched up the bank on a stretcher, Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust intensive care flight paramedic Russell Clarke said.

The man was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition with leg injuries
