An 87-year-old man has died after falling two storeys down a lift shaft at a home in Auckland's Cockle Bay.
Police said they were called to the address at 12.13 this afternoon.
Ambulance had reported the man was deceased following the fall at a private residence in the east-Auckland suburb.
A police northern communications spokesman said police were conducting interviews and would report to the coroner.
Investigations "may involve getting a lift specialist out there", the spokesman said.
