An Auckland man accused of stabbing his wife and daughter to death is to be assessed by a psychiatrist.
Farhat Malik, 55, and her daughter Sidra Malik, 18, were found dead in their home in Ranui in West Auckland, last month.
Ishrat Malik, 55, who lived at the same address, has been charged with their murder.
Malik appeared in the High Court at Auckland today with an Urdu interpreter. He appeared distressed and whimpered throughout the call-over hearing.
Defence lawyer Paul Borich said a psychiatrist had been engaged to assess his client.
Justice Graeme Lang entered a plea of not guilty and set a potential trial date for February 2015.
