Auckland's Harbourmaster's office says a yacht has broken its moorings and is now jammed up against the North Shore side of the harbour bridge.

The large charter yacht Classique - well known in Auckland marine circles - was aground under the bridge.

Its mast coould be seen by passing traffic. Two other yachts have ended up beached at Northcote Point.

An Auckland City spokesman denied the large yacht was up against the bridge, saying it was aground near it.
