A 12-year-old accused of involvement in an armed robbery which left a shopkeeper dead appeared in court again today.

Last week a 13-year-old boy was charged with the murder of Arun Kumar, 57, and assault with intent to rob his Henderson dairy after the man was allegedly stabbed in the neck.

The 12-year-old Henderson boy was accused of assault with intent to rob. He appeared briefly in Waitakere Youth Court today where he was remanded in Child, Youth and Family (CYF) care to appear again next week.

No application for bail was made.

Before his appearance today, family members gathered for a karakia.

At the Waitakere Youth Court last week, both children were denied bail and remanded to youth justice facilities.

The murder accused will appear in the High Court in Auckland at theend of the month.Because the pair were before the Youth Court, their names and the names of their schools were automatically suppressed.

The Children, Young Persons and Their Families Act dictates the welfare and interests of the young person must be the first and paramount consideration when judges considered how much from a hearing can be published.

It is alleged the 13-year-old boy stabbed Kumar in the neck on June 10 at 7.30am while he was working with his wife at the Railside Dairy.

She immediately raised the alarm, but he died shortly after emergency services arrived.

Police launched a homicide investigation and have since been reviewing closed-circuit television footage from the store and the surroundingarea.

In the hours after the incident, officers combed the street for a weapon used in the alleged attack but - more than a week later - have been unsuccessful.
