Two youths are in hospital following an altercation in Auckland’s Mangere this afternoon, police say.
They say they were called to the altercation on Wickman Way, which is dominated by Southern Cross Campus, at 3:45 pm.
Senior Sergeant Dave Glossop confirmed one person was stabbed.
"It was a melee. We don't know what the weapon was."
The injuries the two youths received were not life-threatening and the police response has now been "de-escalated", he says.
The two youths were taken to Middlemore Hospital.
St John’s Ambulance said one victim was male, but the gender of the other one was not available.
“We transported two - one in serious condition and one minor - and they've gone to Middlemore Hospital," Robbie Walker of St John's northern region said.
A scene investigation and witness interviews are under way.
The incident is not connected in any way to the incident earlier today at the Pacific Christian School, police say.
"It's not connected in any way to the stabbing earlier... it's just what we deal with on a day-to-day basis," Glossop said.
