Jaguar's 'first true' sports car in 50 years
An "intimidating" sports car was trailed by helicopter searchlights through Auckland streets last night.
But the subject of scrutiny was not a criminal on the run. It was the new Jaguar F-Type Coupe.
The vehicle wound its way through suburbs and city streets before arriving at Britomart.
The new addition to the Jaguar family was the "first true sports car from Jaguar in more than 50 years", the company said.
Demand had exceeded the car's availability in New Zealand, Jaguar said.
The car cost between $125,000 and $185,000.
It had a limited top speed of 300 kmh and acceleration from zero to 100kmh in 4.2 seconds.
The coupe was the company's most dynamically capable and performance-focused car, Jaguar said.
It was the "next evolution" of the convertible F-TYPE launched last year and had received international acclaim.
