Pistol, knife present in liquor store holdup
Staff at a liquor store south of Auckland were left shaken by two armed robbers who stole booze and money from the store before fleeing on foot.
One of the offenders pointed a Glock-style pistol at the cashier and the other waved a knife during the holdup at Counties Inn Liquor Outlet in Pukekohe on Monday night.
CCTV footage captured the two offenders who were both wearing hooded sweatshirts and carrying a sports bag full of stolen alcohol.
Police are hoping someone may recognise them or that a witness in the area may be able to assist with the investigation.
Detective Senior Sergeant Rod Honan, of Counties Manukau police, said the pair might have fled to nearby Seddon St and hopped in a getaway car.
The liquor store employee was unharmed "although thoroughly shaken by the experience", he said.
The first offender is described as having dark skin and was wearing a blue hooded jacket or sweatshirt with a multicoloured pattern on the front.
The second offender, with the knife, was wearing black fingerless gloves, a grey hooded sweatshirt, dark trousers and black and white running shoes. He also carried a dark blue or black Puma sports bag (visible in the photo).
Honan said anyone who might have seen suspicious activity in the area about 8pm on Monday night should contact police on 09 295 0379 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
