An Auckland power outage has left the North Shore Hospital relying on its back-up generator.
The outage occurred at 7.45 this morning and a spokesman for the hospital says theatres won't be opened and operations will be delayed until the power resumes.
However, due to the back up system, patients already in treatment are at no risk.
Sandy Hodge from Vector Power Company said the power is to be restored later this morning.
