Hester goes to World Cup

Football referee Mike Hester has made the final cut for the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
The naval officer from Meadowbank, who appeared in the East & Bays Courier last Wednesday,
received the good news on Saturday morning.
He spent most of the day answering congratulatory phone calls, emails and text messages.
Hester and the 29 other international referees who have been chosen to
officiate at the tournament will head to
Zurich for medical screening next month before going to Gran Canaria for a conference.
The world cup is being held in South Africa from June 11 to July 11.
"It’s going to be a busy four or five months, but it’s worth it," Hester says.
