The East City Futsal Indoor Soccer Club is proud to be the national champions for the first time.
The Kohimarama club's senior men’s team was unbeaten at the National Futsal Championships in Wellington in December.
In the final they came up against defending champs Capital City, from Wellington, and claimed a hard-fought 1-nil win.
The East City youth development squad exceeded all expectations by making it to the semi-finals of the senior men’s competition, where they were knocked out by the East City senior men.
They finished fourth overall after a penalty shoot-out defeat in their last game.
Many of these players have been together since they represented the club in Australia five years ago.
The club is proud of the results and says they are a reflection of the effort that went in before the tournament, team spirit, sportsmanship and the dedication of coaches Nathan Robertson and Gabriel Crisan.
To join register online at www.ecisc.org.nz before February 15.
