Man found in Auckland's Victoria Park with serious injuries after assault video

Paramedics tend to assault victim in Auckland's Victoria Park.

A man has been found in a central Auckland park with "critical" injuries following an assault on Monday morning.

A heavy police presence and two ambulances are at a cordoned area of Victoria Park in Auckland's CBD where a man in his early 30's was found with head injuries.

Senior Sergeant Scott Rees said the man suffered "critical" injuries from a serious assault.

"He is in a serious condition at this stage and ambulance are stabilising him and transporting him to hospital."

Police are interviewing people nearby the area and the park's groundsman.

The park is cordoned on the northern side near Fanshawe St. 

St John Ambulance spokesman Robbie Walker said ambulances were called to the scene by police at 7.59am.

Walker said paramedics were still assessing the man who is being taken to Auckland Hospital.
