Police said two people had been arrested in relation to the suspected meth lab.

Two people have been arrested after dozens of police officers swarmed a suspected clan lab in Auckland on Thursday morning.

Dozens of police officers swarmed a street on Auckland's North Shore in an apparent meth bust.

Residents of Bute Rd in Browns Bay said both ends of the road were closed before 6:30 on Thursday morning with police and fire services at the scene.

"There were about 30-odd armed cops," said a man who lives nearby, and asked not to be named.

"They had a decontamination unit going in the middle of the road, and a shower."

He said other residents saw a man and a woman arrested after officers stormed an apartment over a mechanic's garage.

Police said a 32-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman would appear in the North Shore District Court on Thursday charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.

Detective Sergeant Callum McNeill said forensic examinations of the scene were still underway and it remained closed off.

"We know this drug causes widespread harm to our communities and police will continue to target clan labs to disrupt the methamphetamine trade."
