Auckland Transport are advising passengers to expect delays after fixing a track fault near Britomart Transport Centre.

A track fault near Britomart Transport Centre causing Auckland rail services to be delayed or cancelled has been fixed.

Onehunga rail line services were suspended while the fault was being fixed, Auckland Transport said on Thursday evening. However, AT said travellers should still expect some delays as train services returned to schedule.

The train disruptions followed other delays around Britomart earlier on Thursday, after an evacuation due to a fire alarm.

Auckland Transport spokesman Mark Hannan, who was at the station at the time, said the alarm started around 2.30pm on Thursday.

He said about 100 people were evacuated, given the alarm started at off-peak times. By 2.45pm, people were being allowed back in to the station.
