A stunning $350 million superyacht that resembles a stealth destroyer cruised into Auckland harbour this morning.
Superyacht 'A', owned by Russian self-made banking, steel, and fertiliser billionaire Andrey Melnichenko and his Serbian model wife Aleksandra, is one of the finest yachts on the water, said superyachts.com.
Designed in 2008 by Philippe Starck, 'A' drew parallels with stealth destroyers made for the US Navy.
It is 119 metres long, has three swimming pools that create currents to swim against, a "nookie room" concealed behind mirrored panels, and two 11m tenders - all features making it the most talked-about yacht on the seas, according to the Wall Street Journal.
It has 23,600 square feet of living space, and was designed to be in harmony with the sea and nature.
It can reach up to 23 knots, with a range of 4250nm, and has all the latest navigation and entertainment equipment.
'A' can accommodate 14 guests in one owner's suite and up to 37 crew members onboard. It has six guest suites.
In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Aleksandra Melnichenko said she was included in every step of the interior design.
The walls of one room were covered in white sting-ray hides, while another was covered in hand-stitched calf's leather.
Melnichenko, 41, created a pipe exporting company, as well as fertiliser maker Eurochem and coal producer SUEK.
