Up to 10,000 Vector customers in the Auckland CBD lost power for a short amount of time this afternoon after a construction company "clipped" an electricity cable.
Vector spokeswoman Sandy Hodge said a third party contractor had clipped the cable causing the outage soon after midday.
The Vector control room was able to "back feed" most of the customers meaning only about 200 were still without power.
She hoped all would have power again soon.
The fault also cut a number of traffic lights, causing some congestion in the CBD.
Vector spokeswoman Sandy Hodge said she was aware there was some sort of cabling issue.
