Plane makes unexpected landing at Pukekohe Park Raceway
A small plane may take off from a south Auckland racecourse on Monday after it was forced to make an emergency landing on Sunday evening.
Emergency services were called to Pukekohe Park Raceway just before 6pm, where two people had escaped unscathed following the incident.
"The plane made a precautionary landing at the racecourse due to fuel issues," a police spokeswoman said.
"Two people got out uninjured and the landing was fine. The aircraft will be checked by an engineer and likely flown off tomorrow."
The emergency landing has been referred to the Civil Aviation Authority.
Pukekohe Park is around 40km south of Auckland's central city, and hosts horse racing, motor racing, and a variety of community and sporting events.
Police said the plane landed on an old grass airstrip at the raceway.
