The front windscreen of the bus was impaled by the fence's metal railings.

A pedestrian was hurt in the collision and suffered minor injuries, a police spokeswoman said.

However, Auckland Transport spokesman Mark Hannan said it was the driver who was injured and no pedestrians were involved.

The bus was not in service and was not carrying any passengers, Hannan said.

Auckland Transport said bus services were still operating in the area, but at a reduced speed.
