A man has died and another suffered life threatening injuries following two serious crashes on roads in the Auckland region overnight.
A 40-year-old motorcyclist died following a head-on collision with a car on State Highway 16, near Kumeu, north-west of Auckland. The crash happened about 7.20pm and despite being given CPR, the man died at the scene.
Two other people were treated by St John’s ambulance officers, but did not require hospitalisation.
About six hours later, emergency services rushed to the scene of a one-car crash on Tamaki Drive, near the Parnell Baths.
A man suffered life-threatening injuries after being flung from the car; which rolled after colliding with a pole.
A second occupant of the car was taken to Auckland Hospital with moderate injuries.
A police spokesman said the serious crash unit was investigating.
