Bruce and Cookie are best buddies
A fall from a truck and befriending a hunter are the escapades that brought two pigs together.
Bruce the pig was found on Auckland's southern motorway in March and is thought to have fallen off a truck.
He was rescued by some kind rockers on their way to a Bruce Springsteen concert and taken to the SPCA's Animal Village in Mangere.
The wee captain cooker has now been adopted by the Young family of Kaukapakapa - around 45 minutes north of the CBD.
And he's become fast friends with another SPCA favourite, Cookie, who came to the animal village late last year after following a hunter out of Whitford Forest.
Cookie was also adopted by Claudine and Pete Young and their daughter Madelaine who says the two pigs are now inseparable.
''They have become best friends and spend all day together and they sleep together every night.''
The pigs share a large field with two huts but prefer to ''wedge'' themselves into one, she says.
Bruce also shares his new home with a goat, Smokey, and two dogs, Charlie and Teddy.
