Len Brown is Auckland's preferred mayor for the new supercity according to a new poll.
Forty two percent of the 482 Auckland residents surveyed in the UMR Research poll favoured the Manukau mayor over the current Auckland City mayor John Banks who followed with 31 percent.
The telephone survey was conducted between the 3rd and 6th December on Aucklanders aged 18 years and over.
Ten percent of those surveyed were unsure of their preferred mayor, seven percent felt neither were suitable candidates and 11 percent felt they didn't know enough about the candidates to make an informed decision.
