Connecting Families Day is on at YMCA Ellerslie this Sunday and manager Grant Helleur hopes at least 1500 people come to the event.
"It’s basically a big open day, giving people and their families an opportunity to get outside, get involved and get physical," Mr Helleur says.
The event, which runs from 10am to 2pm at 46 Michaels Ave, has a number of activities.
These include fitness classes, the launch of new "drums alive" class, demonstrations from the Impact Pro Wrestling Team and New Zealand Trampoline club and Linda Adamson will be filming her new DVD for Love to Sing.
"Our aim is to raise awareness out there in the community, about family involvement and being active," Mr Helleur says.
"It’s about families being able to play together."
YMCA Ellerslie has also joined forces with local sports teams, which will be there on the day to run activities and fun challenges. These include the Ellerslie badminton club, Y’s walking group and Ellerslie soccer club.
