Meat Loaf coming to Auckland
He's sold millions of albums, is a respected actor and says he's cheated death more than once. Now, Meat Loaf is heading back to Auckland as part of a three-date tour in October.
Bursting onto the scene in 1977, with his landmark release Bat Out of Hell, Meat Loaf has remained one of the most recognisable faces, and voices, in music for over 30 years.
The album has sold more than 43 million copies worldwide and is the third biggest selling record of all time - it still sells 200,000 copies a year.
He followed that smash hit with a string of hit albums, including Dead Ringer, Bad Attitude and the Bat Out of Hell sequels, 1993's Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell and 2006's Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster is Loose.
Meat Loaf will perform three stadium shows in Auckland, Wellington and Tauranga in late October.
He was last in New Zealand for a promotional visit in March last year.
