ACG wins international award
An Auckland-based group of schools has taken out 'best high school' at an international award ceremony on the weekend.
Academic Colleges Group was named the Best High School at the Language Travel Magazine Star Awards at the Hilton Hotel in London - ahead of two Canadian and two UK schools.
The parent company to seven private schools and an English language school in New Zealand - including Senior College and Strathallan College - ACG also has two schools in Vietnam and one in Indonesia.
Spokeswoman Kim Harase accepted the award in front of 700 people at the formal gala on Saturday.
"The winners of this event are chosen from thousands of votes cast by those in the education industry worldwide, so winning this award is a huge accolade as it places ACG at the top in terms of industry recognition by agents," she said.
"It is a great confirmation for us that we're on the right track. It's important to us to really listen to our students and their families to provide them with the best educational opportunities."
The group also recently won an exporter of the year award in the consultants and services category at the Air NZ Cargo awards, beating an international shipping company, a tertiary education provider and a project management company.
The first ACG school, Senior College, opened in 1994 in central Auckland. It was driven by former Diocesan Girls' School principal Dawn Jones and Auckland Grammar School headmaster Sir John Graham.
