A man has been arrested after the repeated ramming of a police car during a wild pursuit through Auckland at the weekend.
Police were searching for the driver of a white ute who led them on a chase from Glenfield to Henderson on Saturday, after they were called to a reported theft at a Glenfield address.
Police said the suspect fled in a ute which was thought to be stolen, swerving into oncoming traffic to avoid road spikes and allegedly ramming the police car three times.
The chase was abandoned when the man hit another vehicle.
A police spokesman said a man in his 30s had since been arrested in relation to the incident.
He will appear in the Auckland District Court facing driving charges.
