Grenade found at Auckland airport
A grenade found at the postal centre at Auckland Airport was hollowed out and harmless, police say.
A package containing the weapon was found and although it had no pin in it, “normal protocol” was followed, Inspector Kay Lane, of the police northern communications centre, said.
This included calling in the military bomb squad and clearing the area around the postal centre in Laurence Stevens Drive.
The device was found to be safe but police would inquire into who sent it.
