A West Auckland real estate firm has been left with a gaping hole in its building and a ruined kitchen after a car smashed through its property last night.
Rex Davy Real Estate property manager Rebecca Grieve said staff were alerted to the crash about 10pm and arrived at the property to find a Nissan Skyline abandoned in the kitchen.
''From what I can understand a car hit a bus, veered off and took out some of the retaining wall, hit the side of the office and took off the side - which is the kitchen,'' she said.
''They've taken out the whole kitchen bench and structures - they've actually shunted windows across.''
Grieve said the car was in an ''undriveable'' state and had been left where the kitchen bench would have sat.
''When the branch manager got there, there was no one to be seen - they had taken off,'' she said.
''I'd imagine they would have been going quite fast.''
A Henderson police inspector said the car involved was not stolen, nor involved in a pursuit.
''It's just a crash and the property cut it,'' he said.
Grieve said staff were still able to work from the building with only their morning coffee ritual being disrupted.
