Police have named the two people killed in a car accident near Kingseat, south of Auckland.
Garry Smith, 38, and Janice Knox, 67, both died when their cars collided at the corner of Kingseat and Glenbrook roads last Thursday about midday.
Police said Smith, who died at the scene, was not wearing a seatbelt and failed to stop at the intersection.
Knox, the driver of the other vehicle, suffered critical injuries and died later that day at Auckland Hospital.
Emergency services returned to the same road last night after a fire ripped through a house.
Four fire engines responded to the blaze on Kingseat Rd just before 5pm and found the house was already fully alight.
There were no reports of fatalities or injuries.
Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze.
