The most coveted new houses in Auckland are vying for the title of House of the Year.
Thirty-four homes are in the running for the top prize at the Auckland Registered Master Builders 2012 House of the Year awards which will be announced tomorrow night.
Industry leaders and builders will gather at the Bruce Mason Centre to acknowledge the very best local builders.
The houses up for the top prize - Supreme Award for House of the Year - are valued from $250,000 to more than $2 million and spread across six new home categories.
Homes in Takapuna, Waiheke Island and Whitianga feature in the more expensive new home category $1-2m.
Epsom, Ponsonby, Birkenhead and Henderson properties feature in the categories under $1m.
Judges inspected the homes' workmanship, finishing, cladding, roofing and innovation, as well as the design, functionality, marketability and future-proofing.
The Supreme Renovation of the Year will be selected from eight entrants.
There are also prizes for the most sustainable home and show room home.
Renovations are judged on the quality of the builders' workmanship as well as the retention or creation of the home's character.
Sustainable properties focus on air quality, waste, energy management and building practices.
