Aucklanders face several days of reduced public transport as bus drivers stop work today to discuss a pay dispute and train services are cut over the weekend.
About 900 bus drivers will meet at Alexandra Park today, meaning most bus services will be halted.
NZ Bus says school buses will continue to run, but North Star, Go West, Metrolink, City Link, Inner Link, Outer Link and Waka Pacific buses will stop between 11am and 4.30pm. Normal services will resume from 4.30pm onwards.
Bus services operated by Ritchies Transport, Howick & Eastern, Birkenhead Transport, Urban Express, Waiheke Buses, Northern Express and Airbus services will continue to operate.
Last month more than 36,000 Auckland commuters were stranded when a similar meeting took place.
Auckland train services will stop this weekend so KiwiRail can complete works at several stations, including Newmarket, Henderson and Papakura.
NZ Bus is offering to increase drivers' wages by 6.6 per cent over 27 months in three movements. The first increase was meant to take place last month.
They have been locked in negotiations for drivers for more than two weeks.
