Police are searching for the rider of a scooter who was caught breaking into cars in central Auckland this afternoon.
Police northern communications spokesman Lou Alofa said officers followed the man up Queen St, High St and Mayoral Dr around 2.20pm.
"The man has had to drop some of the stolen property during the pursuit," Alofa said.
The alleged thief was wearing a grey hoodie. No other description was available.
Police are still actively pursuing the man.
