Lit up in a lightning flash
Auckland storm is captured on cameraSHANE DE BARRA
It may have been a cold and stormy night last Friday, but that didn't stop one enthusiastic young man from braving the weather to capture the awesome power of nature on camera.
With heavy rain lashing down and wind blowing a gale, 20-year-old Matt Shephard thought it would be the perfect time to take out his 7D equipment and get some stock footage of lightning illuminating the Auckland skyline from his vantage point in Mission Bay.
And it was to prove a successful excursion as he managed to capture some impressive strings of fork lightning striking the most iconic of Auckland structures - the Sky Tower - in this short, but impressive, video.
