Police are calling for an "irresponsible and reckless" driver who caused a serious crash on the Northern Motorway to come forward.
The driver allegedly swerved in front of another vehicle, causing it to crash and seriously injuring a 44-year-old and his two children who were under the age of 12.
The man is still in hospital, his children have been discharged.
A police spokesman said the incident occurred about 6.15pm on Wednesday in the northbound lanes of the Northern Motorway near the Bawden Rd overbridge.
A Toyota Hilux was travelling in the inside lane when it was overtaken by a dark coloured people mover which then swerved into the path of the Toyota. The driver of the Toyota has had to take evasive action which caused him to lose control and roll a number of times.
The Toyota flipped over the median barrier and ended up coming to a rest in the southbound lanes of the motorway.
The police spokesman said the actions of the driver of the people mover were " irresponsible and reckless" and urged the driver to come forward.
"This incident happened at a time of the day when commuter traffic on the Northern Motorway was heavy. Numerous drivers would have seen the actions of the second vehicle prior to or at the time the Toyota crashed."
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information can call Constable Paul Hayward on 09 481 0345.
