Firefighters have gone "offensive" on a large fire at a warehouse in the Auckland suburb of Avondale.
Eight pumps and other were sent to the "well-involved" fire on Fremlin Pl just before 5pm.
Further appliances were called for and two ladder trucks also attended.
Fire communications shift commander Steve Smith said the fire was an internal blaze in the single level, 200m by 50m factory.
Crews had initially contained the fire but crews were able to get on top of it and begin extinguishing the blaze by about 7pm.
There was no indication of anyone inside and it was too early to say how the fire had started, Smith said.
