An elderly Auckland woman has died after the van she was travelling in crashed into a ditch in Northland last night.
Ans Mansveld, 75, was travelling in a van with nine other people when it failed to take a right hand bend on State Highway 14, 3km north of Dargaville, about 4.20pm yesterday.
It is understood Mansveld died at the scene.
Eight other elderly passengers, some of whom received minor injuries, were taken to Dargaville Hospital to be assessed, ambulance communications spokesman Brett Tobeck said.
The driver of the van was not injured.
The road was blocked for more than two hours after the crash.
