It's John Key as we have never seen him before.
The Prime Minister is turning back the clock with the latest release from NZ On Screen, which shows him as a 25-year-old squash playing accountancy graduate, working as a foreign exchange dealer.
The clip of Key, an excerpt from a 1980s Close Up episode, is one of a handful of television excerpts compiled by NZ On Screen as part of a collection of Kiwi celebrities "Before They were Famous".
In it New Zealanders get to see Key drive a 1980s BMW, answer a phone call at 3.33am while in bed, and play squash in stubbies.
Other excerpts include a 2001 clip from What Now? featuring Kimbra Johnson, the songstress who has taken the world by storm, and a clip from Pulp Comedy in 2000 featuring the Flight of the Conchords performing songs that would later appear in their HBO series
NZ On Screen is funded by NZ On Air to make local programming more accessible to the public.
