A package containing an unknown white substance was handed into Newmarket police today.
A fire services spokesman said they were called to the Remuera Rd station about 1.20pm to try and help identify the substance after a member of the public handed it in.
The substance was yet to be identified and is being sent for testing.
Police were not available to comment.
