The person killed in a crash on State Highway 1 in Northland this morning was a cyclist.
A police spokesman said the rider was hit by a sole vehicle just before 11am and died at the scene.
Those in the vehicle were not harmed.
The accident occurred at the intersection of SH1 and Doctors Hill Rd south of Ruakaka.
A police spokesman said the identity of the person has been confirmed but their next of kin were yet to be contacted.
Emergency services had blocked SH1 but it was due to reopen at 2pm.
