It was a case of mo-no-more today for Willie Lose after 25 years of sporting a moustache.
The former sports star and TV presenter was one of the first to get clipped in support of Movember at a Britomart cafe this morning.
Lose is a Mo Bro ambassador along with Jay Reeve, Will Hall, Ben Barrington and New Zealand Movember manager Rob Dunne.
Other ambassadors for the 2012 event include All Black Brodie Retallick, surfer Maz Quinn, TV fisherman Matt Watson, league player Wairangi Koopu, and New Zealand's Next Top Model judge Chris Sisarich.
Olympic gold medallist Eric Murray, who sports an impressive mo all year round - was on hand today to support competitors with tips on grooming, and how to get the best from their facial hair.
The Movember phenomenon started in Australian in 2003, and is now a men's health movement across 21 countries. In New Zealand the event raises funds and awareness for men's health issues, specifically prostate cancer and depression.
On November 1, anyone taking part needs to be clean shaved, before the clock starts and competitors have a month to grow the biggest, best or weirdest moustache.
Almost 5,000 Kiwi men have already registered to grow out their facial hair and almost $41,000 has been pledged.
Last year the event raised $1.4 million.
