A woman was taken to hospital with spinal injuries after a quad bike accident near the spot where an Australian woman was fatally injured.
On October 11, Chelsea Callaghan was on a Riverland Adventures quad bike tour when she crashed and suffered severe head injuries on Klondyke Rd, Onewhero.
The 38-year-old tourist died in Auckland City Hospital on October 20.
On Wednesday, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter transported a woman to Auckland City Hospital after she suffered spinal injuries and fractured ribs following another quad bike accident in the area.
Police and the Department of Labour are already investigating Callaghan's accident and it will be referred to the coroner.
A Counties Manukau serious crash unit spokesman today said Wednesday's accident was not connected to any tourism operators in the area.
Police had only just become aware of it and were still confirming details but believed the accident had happened on a farm so they were unlikely to investigate much further.
The spokesman said had the accident been fatal, or been on a road, police would be required to investigate.
