Mayor in Xmas pantomime
Len Brown takes the stage in impromptu roleKELSEY FLETCHER
He didn't get to play a curly-tailed pig or the big bad wolf.
But Auckland Mayor Len Brown did get a chance to polish up his acting skills while checking out the Waiuku Theatre Group's Christmas pantomime yesterday afternoon.
Brown was invited by the group to play an impromptu role in Three Little Pigs - A Curly Tale.
Waiuku Theatre Group treasurer Andrew King said when Brown arrived he did not know he would be narrating the play.
''He wasn't bad, I don't think he expected to get as big a participation,'' he said.
''He knew he was going to be doing something but didn't know what. It was fine for him.''
King said Brown's visit gave the children participating in the pantomime ''a huge buzz''.
''He came out because we asked him, a bit of local interest, for the kids and pantomime and because he's our mayor,'' he said.
